What hotel EV charging usually costs

There is no standard price. Hotels choose their own model, and the same brand can charge differently at two properties a mile apart. What you can do is know the models and ask the right question.

The models you will meet

• Included with your stay. Charging is treated like parking or Wi-Fi. Common at properties that installed chargers as an amenity.
• Flat fee per night or per session. One price to plug in, however much you charge. Simple, and easy to compare against public charging nearby.
• Metered by energy or time. You pay for what you use, per kilowatt-hour or per hour. Networked stations usually bill through the network's app.
• Third-party network pricing. When a public network operates the station, the network sets the price and the hotel may have no control over it.

How to confirm before you book

Ask the front desk two questions: "Is charging included for guests?" and "Is the charger yours or run by a network?" The second answer tells you whose app and whose pricing you are dealing with. Where this directory shows a session price, it is a fee we observed ourselves on the date shown, and it can change; the property is always the authority.

One planning note

An overnight charge on a Level 2 charger replaces most of a typical day's driving for most EVs. If the fee is flat, overnight charging is usually the best value a road trip offers.
